This Just In: Medical Resource Centre Could Be Part Of New Community Centre

Huntsville’s new Community Centre is shaping up to be a state of the art Medical Resource and Active Living Centre. The Parks and Recreation Committee is considering office space for the Physicians from the Algonquin Family Health Team. The office would be a resource for patients when doctors need to refer them for further treatment. Staff would review medical records and give patients access to a variety of treatments and local service providers. In the end, what treatment and service provider to choose would be up to the patient. People without a doctor would also be able to use the centre’s resources. The recommendation is expected to be before council for their next regular meeting. Meantime, next week is the public meeting for input on the Active Living Centre. People who are already retired, or just about to enter retirement, are asked to attend and share their ideas on programming and design for the centre. The meeting is slated for September 29th at 7 o’clock in Partners Hall at the Algonquin Theatre.
