The Economic and Development Committee has come up with a number of ways to help market Huntsville to the world. After yesterday's meeting, members will recommend council put out expressions of interest to help market the area leading up to, during and after the G8 and G20 meetings. According to John Finley, the Economic Development Officer, all avenues for funding will be pursued at the government level. The committee would like to see one million dollars included in the 2010 budget for marketing, but Finley said, that would not fall on the tax payer, it would be there incase the funding comes in. Committee members will also recommend the idea of hosting an H-8 conference after the G8. That would be a meeting of all the Huntsville's of North America coming to this town. But, that comes with a price tag of about 50 thousand dollars. No word yet on if this will be before council for a special meeting or during their next regular meeting.
