The North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN has announced it will inject over one million dollars into local palliative care. CEO Bernie Blais says Huntsville Hospice will receive $465,000 while Hospice Simcoe will get $625,000. Blais says the funding enables terminally ill patients to live out their days in a comfortable setting without added stress on hospital staff. Blais adds North Simcoe Muskoka is the LHIN that does not currently have residential beds. Hospice Simcoe will open its doors in Barrie this December and will have ten beds available. The development of the 5 residential hospice beds in Huntsville will begin in spring of 2010.
