Starting October 26th, drivers who use hand held electronics can be fined up to $500. Moose news reporter James King took to the streets to find out how people in Parry Sound Muskoka feel about the ban. For the most part, people felt the amount of the fine wasn’t set high enough, even though the majority of those people admitted to texting while driving. Emergency vehicles like police and ambulance as well as taxi drivers will have a three year phase-in of the hand-held device ban which will give them time to switch their services to a hands-free version.
