Donations continue to roll into the Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary despite recent controversy. Board of Director Chair Julia McLaren says at this point, it’s hard to tell whether the accusations have affected the amount of donations coming in because they have not had a solid look at the books. McLaren says all donated funds go to many areas of the sanctuary such as heat, hydro, medications, veterinary bills, and staff salaries. There is currently 5 full-time staff at the Sanctuary and one part-time employee. Donations do not go towards the purchase of food for the animals because local businesses donate enough food to go around.
